Joseph Draper is a sports broadcaster and multimedia journalist who calls games, reports from the field, and produces broadcast packages. He works on both sides of the camera, calling games on air and producing the coverage behind the scenes.
Joseph graduated from Pennsylvania State University in 2026 with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Sport Studies. He completed his degree at the University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania, and was part of Penn State's John Curley Center for Sports Journalism.
He started early. Before college, Joseph covered high school athletics in Pennsylvania's Lehigh Valley for D11Sports.com, where he filmed games, tracked stats, interviewed athletes and coaches, ran social media, and called games live on YouTube. He often handled all of it himself.
At Penn State Lehigh Valley, Joseph served as the play-by-play voice for the men's and women's basketball teams and managed interviews, social media, and game-day communications. He then joined the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference, where he called championship games across multiple sports, co-hosted a weekly podcast on the conference's teams and athletes, and coordinated media availability and social coverage at championship events.
With After The Whistle PSU, Joseph sharpened the reporting and production side of his work. He covered high school sports, conducted post-game interviews, wrote scripts, and edited broadcast packages in Adobe Premiere Pro. He also gained national production experience with Fox Sports, assisting producers during Big Noon Kickoff at Penn State.
Joseph's on-air and behind-the-scenes work feed each other. He can call a game, then cut the package that comes out of it. On air, he handles play-by-play, color commentary, and sideline reporting. Behind the scenes, he writes scripts, edits, and works on live productions. He uses Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition, CapCut, and Ross Inception, and shoots on professional Sony cameras, including the FX3 and Z90.
His work reaches beyond sports. In February 2026, Joseph earned an international film credit for The Hail Mary, directed by Daniel Roebuck.
Joseph continues to build his career in sports broadcasting and multimedia journalism, covering live events and telling the stories that surround them.
