Joseph’s first coverage was of Lehigh Valley high school sports, as a student intern with D11Sports.com, a site focused on PIAA District 11. He covered games on his own: capturing film and stats, uploading to social media, interviewing athletes and coaches, and calling play-by-play on YouTube Live. His articles, published under the name Joey Draper, are on D11Sports.com.

Penn State Lehigh Valley, 2022 to 2024

Joseph then worked as an athletics student worker at Penn State Lehigh Valley, in Center Valley. He was the play-by-play voice for the men’s and women’s basketball teams on YouTube live broadcasts, ran pre- and post-game interviews and social media for the men’s soccer team, and helped the Director of Athletic Programming with game-day programs, a pep rally and other communications needs.

From the Lehigh Valley to University Park

He went on to finish his Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism at Penn State’s University Park campus in 2026, working as a sportscaster for the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference and a journalist for After The Whistle PSU. See his full experience.
