Joseph Draper at Penn State
Penn State broadcast journalism graduate, Class of 2026.
Joseph Draper graduated from Pennsylvania State University in May 2026 with a Bachelor of Arts in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Sport Studies. He completed his degree at the University Park campus in State College, Pennsylvania, and was part of Penn State’s John Curley Center for Sports Journalism.
Alongside his degree, Joseph spent four years broadcasting and reporting at Penn State, first at Penn State Lehigh Valley and then at University Park. This page covers that work. His full career, including his start with D11Sports.com, is on the experience page.

Penn State Lehigh Valley
At Penn State Lehigh Valley, Joseph served as the play-by-play voice for the men’s and women’s basketball teams on YouTube live broadcasts and managed interviews, social media, and game-day communications.
He ran pre- and post-game interviews and social media for the men’s soccer team, kept scores and stats current online, and helped the Director of Athletic Programming with game-day programs, a pep rally and other communications work.

Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference
He then joined the Pennsylvania State University Athletic Conference, where he called championship games across multiple sports on play-by-play and color commentary, co-hosted a weekly podcast on the conference’s teams and athletes, and coordinated media availability and social coverage at championship events.

After The Whistle PSU
With After The Whistle PSU, Joseph sharpened the reporting and production side of his work. He covered high school sports, conducted post-game interviews, wrote scripts, and edited broadcast packages in Adobe Premiere Pro, cutting each into a concise 40-second segment for live broadcast.

Fox Sports Big Noon Kickoff at Penn State
When Big Noon Kickoff came to Penn State, Joseph worked as a runner for Fox Sports, assisting producers with the production and gaining national production experience on site.
On air and behind the scenes
On air, Joseph handles play-by-play, color commentary and sideline reporting. Behind the scenes, he writes scripts, builds rundowns, edits, and works on live productions. He edits in Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Audition and CapCut, works in Ross Inception for script writing, rundowns and show production, and shoots on professional Sony cameras, including the FX3 and Z90.
His on-air and behind-the-scenes work feed each other. He can call a game, then cut the package that comes out of it. Watch his demo reel.
Beyond sports
In February 2026, Joseph earned an international film credit for The Hail Mary, directed by Daniel Roebuck.
